This is always tricky. What is the difference
You can ask your self a few question.
- How many host are impacted one or multiple?
- If the host’s are connected to the same network?
If this is multiple and all impacted hosts are connected to the same network this will by most probably Partition.
Isolation
Usually that will by single Host with separate from restwill take of of the cluster.
If that happen Host will declared isolation and will take of action ( kill vm’s and restart on different host)
Partition
In this scenario multiple host will create own cluster with own master and the vms will be not restart.

For the Isolation troubleshooting you can check the fdm.log on the isolation host and master
